Expressive landscape executed in an intense colouristic palette of strong yellow, orange, green, and violet tones. The composition is built up with broad impasto brushwork and palette-knife strokes, giving the surface a pronounced textural quality and reinforcing the atmosphere of an autumn evening. Signed Bertle lower right.

Bio:
Lars Bertle (b. 1925 in Helsingborg) is a self-taught Swedish visual artist who was able to devote himself to art full-time from 1968. He is particularly known as a landscape painter, although his oeuvre also includes figure subjects, still lifes, and abstract compositions. Nature and landscape are central sources of inspiration, frequently interpreted through an expressive and colouristic visual language with pronounced textural application of paint. Bertle is represented in public collections including Helsingborg Museum, the Swedish National Public Art Council, and Landskrona Museum.
