Kaj Franck (1911–1989) was one of Finland’s most influential designers, renowned for his functional and timeless aesthetic. He began working for Arabia in 1945 and became its artistic director in 1946, creating iconic tableware. From the early 1950s, he also collaborated with the Nuutajärvi Notsjö glassworks, where he produced some of his most celebrated art glass pieces. At Nuutajärvi, Franck explored color, form, and glassblowing techniques, creating simple yet highly artistic objects that are now prized by collectors worldwide. His work seamlessly blended art and function in a strict, modernist style.
