Short biography of Hjorth:
Hjorth Keramik was founded in 1859 by Lauritz Adolph Hjorth in Rønne, on the Danish island of Bornholm. The workshop became renowned for its craftsmanship in stoneware and faience, combining traditional techniques with contemporary artistic trends. Throughout the 20th century, Hjorth created a wide range of popular models, often characterised by hand-painted decoration and distinctive glazes. Today, Hjorth’s works are sought after by collectors both in Denmark and internationally.
