Svend Åge Madsen (1928–2009) was a Danish self-taught visual artist, inspired by the nature of the Nordic countries. Throughout his career, he explored the shifting light, fog, and weather, often capturing motifs from the Faroe Islands and Norway. His works carry a poetic quality, where small houses, mountains, valleys, and lakes appear in quiet, grey-toned nuances. He debuted in 1948 and worked with painting, drawing, ceramics, and graphics, gaining recognition for his evocative depictions of Nordic landscapes.
