Cylindrical ceramic vase with a relief patterned Harlekiini surface and a warm yellow-brown glaze. The Harlekiini model is known for its tactile diamond relief that creates a lively interplay of light across the glazed surface.

Bio:
Kaarina Aho (born 1925 in Helsinki, died 1990) was a Finnish ceramicist and designer. Trained in technical drawing at the Central School of Arts and Crafts in Helsinki, she joined Arabia’s product design department in 1946 as an assistant to Kaj Franck and soon expanded her role across many facets of product development, from laboratory work to glazing. Aho was instrumental in creating a range of new and expressive designs for Arabia over nearly two decades. She is best known for series such as Harlekiini and Palapeli. From 1962 she worked in her own ceramic studio producing unique utility articles in distinctive glazes.
