Bio:
Elsie Dorothy Eleonor Ruhne-Sempinski (1908–1973) was a Swedish painter born in New York. She studied painting at Harald Billman’s painting school in Västerås in 1927–1928 and later continued her education at the Essem School in Malmö between 1947 and 1949. After many years working as a secretary while painting in her spare time, she became active as a full-time artist. Ruhne-Sempinski exhibited at Östlings Konsthall in Västerås, at Västerås Art Association, and in several Swedish group exhibitions including the Colliouristerna exhibition in Malmö. She received the Västerås City Cultural Prize in 1954. Her work includes landscapes and other motifs executed in oil, pastel and tempera, and she is represented in collections connected to the Västerås Art Association and the municipality of Västerås.
