Bio:
Joseph Denovan Adam (1841–1896) was a Scottish painter and member of the Royal Scottish Academy. He specialised in evocative Highland landscapes and rural scenes, particularly paintings of Highland cattle, which became his signature subject. Adam exhibited regularly at the Royal Scottish Academy, the Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, and the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolours. In 1894, his painting Evening, Strathspey received a gold medal at the Paris Salon, confirming his reputation as one of the leading Scottish landscape painters of the late Victorian era.
