Bio:
Pär Lindblad (1907–1981) was a Swedish painter and sculptor born in Arbrå, Hälsingland. Largely self-taught, he complemented his artistic education with study trips to Norway, Denmark, and France. Lindblad became renowned for his lyrical, atmospheric paintings, often depicting solitary figures and northern Swedish landscapes enveloped in subdued blue tones that convey a quiet emotional intensity. Following his breakthrough exhibition in Stockholm in 1944, he held numerous solo exhibitions and also created several important public sculptures. His works are represented in the collections of the Nationalmuseum and Moderna Museet in Stockholm, as well as several regional museums throughout Sweden. He was awarded the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts' major scholarship in both 1972 and 1973.
