Handwoven wool rya carpet with a deep pile featuring the coat of arms of Jämtland with a reindeer and the woven date 1971. Executed in blue, white, yellow and red by a Swedish textile designer in a distinctive Scandinavian style.

Bio:
Jämtland is a historic province in central Sweden with a long tradition of textile craftsmanship. During the 1960s and 70s, handwoven rya carpets were frequently produced featuring regional coats of arms and local motifs as both commemorative and decorative textiles. These carpets combine traditional Swedish weaving techniques with functional and decorative textile art.
