Bio:
Jens Petersen (1890–1956) was a Danish ceramicist associated with Esbjerg. He worked closely with his uncle, ceramicist Søren Kongstrand, and his early work was strongly influenced by Kongstrand’s ceramic vocabulary and experiments with glazes. Petersen later developed his own distinctive expression and is particularly known for unique ceramic and stoneware pieces featuring lustre glazes, organic forms and figurative motifs, including female figures and mermaids. His works are frequently signed with the initials JP.
