Bio:
Ivar Ekelund (1908–2002) was a Swedish painter and draughtsman born in Stockholm. He studied at the painting schools of Signe Barth and Isaac Grünewald and at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris. Ekelund worked with painting, drawing, woodcuts and collage, developing a visual language characterised by stylised landscapes, firmly structured compositions and a distinctive decorative use of line and colour.
