Bio:
Kaj Franck (1911–1989) was one of Finland’s most significant designers and a central figure in modern Finnish design. He worked with glass, ceramics and other materials, beginning his career in glass at Iittala through a design competition in 1946. Franck consistently explored simple basic forms, carefully considered proportions and the elimination of unnecessary detail. His work for Iittala, Arabia and Nuutajärvi, among others, had a major influence on post-war Finnish design and achieved international recognition.
