Bio:
Wiliam Skotte Olsen (1945–2005) was a Danish painter and printmaker and a distinctive figure in Danish expressionist painting. He studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1965–1970 and again in 1978–1982. From the 1960s onwards he developed a figurative, expressive and strongly colouristic approach to painting, with people, houses and mask-like faces becoming recurring motifs. His early work was influenced by Expressionism, while contemporary rock music and the existential concerns of modernism were important reference points in his artistic development.
