Halina Chrostowska, etching, listed Polish printmaker.
Expressive figurative composition executed as an etching on paper, characterised by strong black areas, pronounced linear work and stylised figures. Signed and dated Chrostowska 65 in pencil and numbered 8/10, from a very limited edition of ten impressions. The work relates to the artist's graphic exploration of figurative subjects and series during this period.

Bio:
Halina Chrostowska (1929–1990) was an important Polish printmaker, draughtswoman and art educator. She studied painting and graphic arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw from 1946 to 1950 and subsequently taught in its Faculty of Graphic Arts. From 1962 to 1989 she headed her own printmaking studio. Chrostowska worked extensively with etching and mixed graphic techniques and became known for technical experimentation that increasingly challenged the boundaries between printmaking and painting. Her work frequently combines figurative and metaphorical imagery with a strong emphasis on line, texture and tonal contrast.
