Cylindrical ceramic vase with an intense red glaze and subtle relief texture. Produced as model 0173, the vase features a simple geometric form with distinctive decorative details characteristic of Swedish ceramics from the 1960s. Marked on the underside.

Bio:
Mari Simmulson (1911–2000) was an Estonian-born Swedish ceramic artist and designer, best known for her work at Upsala-Ekeby. Born in Tartu, Estonia, she studied ceramics before establishing her career in Sweden. She joined Upsala-Ekeby in 1949, where she designed an extensive range of decorative ceramics, including vases, bowls and figurines. Her work is recognised for its sculptural forms, vibrant glazes and distinctive decorative style. Today, her ceramics are highly regarded by collectors of Swedish postwar design.
