Bio:
Meissen was Europe’s first manufacturer of hard-paste porcelain, founded in 1710, and achieved international renown during the 18th century for figurative porcelain of exceptional artistic and technical standard. The Marcolini period is associated with refined modelling, high firing quality, and superb hand-painted decoration. “La Belle Chocolatière”, inspired by Liotard’s watercolour, became an icon of Enlightenment taste and everyday elegance and is regarded as one of Meissen’s most prestigious and collectible figure models.
