Bio:
Meissen was Europe’s first producer of hard-paste porcelain (founded 1710) and became the leading factory for sculptural porcelain figures in the 18th century, supplying courts and discerning collectors. The Marcolini period (late 18th to early 19th century) is associated with particularly high technical standards, refined modelling, and superb hand-painted decoration. “La Belle Chocolatière” became an iconic image of Rococo and Enlightenment taste, and Meissen’s interpretations are considered among the factory’s most prestigious figure models.
