Bing & Grøndahl commemorative plate.

Rare hand-painted porcelain plate in cobalt blue glaze featuring a heraldic coat of arms and the date 1896 in relief. Produced by Bing & Grøndahl as first quality and issued as a commemorative piece in the late nineteenth century.

Bio:
Bing & Grøndahl was founded in Copenhagen in 1853 by sculptor Frederik Vilhelm Grøndahl (1819–1900) together with brothers Meyer Hermann Bing (1807–1883) and Jacob Herman Bing (1808–1896). The company gained international recognition for its artistic porcelain, underglaze decorations and commemorative issues. During the late nineteenth century Bing & Grøndahl produced a number of historical and royal commemorative plates, many of which are now considered among the most desirable pieces of Danish porcelain collecting.
