A pair of hand-painted porcelain lidded boxes, comprising one elephant-shaped box from Limoges and one floral-decorated box by another French manufacturer. Both feature gilt details and are attractive decorative collectors pieces. Both are marked.

Bio:
French porcelain manufacturers produced a wide variety of decorative lidded boxes during the first half of the 20th century, ranging from traditional to whimsical figural designs. Limoges was the most renowned centre of production, while several other French makers also produced porcelain of exceptional quality. Their hand-painted decoration and finely detailed gilt-mounted fittings continue to make these boxes highly sought after by collectors today.
