Bio:
Hjördis Oldfors (1920–2014) was a Swedish ceramicist, born in Gothenburg. She first worked in banking and, at nearly 30, trained at Slöjdföreningens skola in Gothenburg. In 1952 she became a designer at Upsala-Ekeby, where she created some of the factory’s best-selling series, including Pingvin and Kokos. She is particularly known for her graphic patterns combined with soft forms and, together with Ingrid Atterberg and Mari Simmulson, is regarded as one of the leading designers at Upsala-Ekeby in the 1950s.
