Erik Rahr for Saxbo
Lidded jar, mid 20th century.
Organically shaped stoneware lidded jar with a matte brown glaze in warm earthy tones. The lid features two small handles, characteristic of Saxbo’s functional yet sculptural design language. A fine and balanced example of Rahr’s work for Saxbo.

Origin: Denmark.
Designer: Erik Rahr.
Material: Stoneware.
Dimensions: H. 16 cm, D. 13 cm.
Period: Mid 20th century.
Condition: Small insignificant chip on the inner rim of the lid, otherwise excellent condition.

Bio:
Erik Rahr (1902–1981) was a Danish ceramicist associated with the Saxbo studio under Nathalie Krebs. Active between 1929 and 1968, Saxbo became celebrated for its pure Scandinavian design language and technical mastery of glazes. Rahr’s works combine functionality with a calm, natural aesthetic and are today highly sought after by collectors.
