Axel Salto for Royal Copenhagen
Early vase in budding style, 1930s.
Cylindrical stoneware vase with a pronounced relief decoration in a repeating organic diamond pattern. The budding style is one of Salto’s characteristic styles. The deep, dark glaze is contrasted by warm amber and brown highlights within the relief, creating a dynamic interplay of light and shadow. The sculptural surface and bold texture are closely related to Axel Salto’s experimental Art Deco works of the 1930s.
