Slender cylindrical glazed ceramic pitcher with a narrow neck and single handle. The lower section is decorated with graphic dot and line patterns in white against a brown ground glaze, while the upper section is finished in white glaze. The decoration has a clear rhythmic structure and a strong modernist character. Model number 4563.

Bio:
Mari Simmulson (1911–2000) was a Swedish ceramic artist and designer who worked for many years at Upsala Ekeby. She is especially noted for her graphically decorated forms, where repeated patterns and contrasting colour fields play a central role. Her work from the 1950s and 60s reflects the Scandinavian modernist emphasis on simple form, functionality and decorative clarity. Upsala Ekeby was one of Sweden’s leading ceramic producers during this period, and its production is today highly regarded by collectors.
