Mari Simmulson for Upsala Ekeby, pitcher.
Elegant stoneware pitcher with a grey-violet finely textured surface and relief decoration featuring stylised leaves in light turquoise and white tones. Slender organic form with an integrated handle. The base is stamped and marked with model number 4499.

Origin: Sweden.
Material: Stoneware.
Dimensions: H. 22 cm, D. 9 cm.
Period: 1960s.
Condition: Excellent condition with minor signs of wear.

Bio:
Mari Simmulson 1911–2000 was a Swedish ceramic artist and designer who worked for Upsala Ekeby from 1949. She is renowned for her distinctive decorative language, characterised by graphic relief patterns and stylised botanical motifs. Her work ranges from functional ceramics to more sculptural pieces and represents a significant contribution to Swedish ceramics of the mid-20th century.
