Bio:
Thomas Weaver (1774–1843) was a British painter from Shropshire, best known for his portraits of livestock and horses commissioned by prominent breeders and agricultural reformers in England. He received instruction from the painter John Boultbee, whose work was influenced by the celebrated animal painter George Stubbs. By around 1800 Weaver had established a successful practice and worked for notable patrons including William Coke of Norfolk. In addition to livestock subjects, he also painted portraits and hunting scenes, including The Warwickshire Hunt and its Master John Corbet of 1812. Weaver exhibited at the Royal Academy in London and at the Liverpool Academy and is regarded as a notable English painter of animals and portrait subjects of the early nineteenth century.
