Bio:
Mogens Balle (1921–1988) was a Danish painter and graphic artist and a significant figure in post-war Danish abstract art. He was associated with the artists’ group Spiralen and participated during the 1950s in activities connected with the international Phases movement. His distinctive visual language is characterised by spontaneous, organic and imaginative forms with links to both Surrealism and Abstract Expressionism. Balle’s graphic works carry this characteristic imagery into printmaking through strong colours and dynamic compositions.
