Bio:
Nils Thorsson (1898–1975) was a Swedish-born Danish ceramicist and a central figure in 20th-century Danish ceramic art. He began his apprenticeship at Aluminia in 1912 and developed a particular interest in glazes, surfaces and stoneware throughout his long career. In 1949, he became artistic director at the Royal Copenhagen Porcelain Manufactory. His work from the 1930s and 40s included Chinese-inspired forms and experimental glazes, while his unique stoneware pieces form an important part of his artistic production. Thorsson is represented in several major international museum collections.
