Bio:
Svend Hammershøi (1873–1948) was a Danish painter and ceramicist. He produced his first works at Kähler in Næstved in 1893 and resumed his ceramic work at the workshop in 1911. There he developed a distinctive vocabulary characterised by calm, harmonious forms, precise profiles and distinctive glazes. His long association with Kähler continued until his death in 1948, and his ceramics constitute an important part of his artistic work.
