Bio:
Henry Heerup (1907–1993) was a Danish painter, sculptor, and printmaker, widely regarded as one of the most distinctive figures in Danish modernism. Associated with the CoBrA movement, he developed a highly personal naïve artistic language characterised by humour, imagination, and symbolism. His works frequently explore people, animals, love, and everyday life through simplified forms and vibrant colours. Working across painting, printmaking, and sculpture, Heerup gained widespread recognition for his spontaneous, poetic, and deeply individual artistic expression.
