Bio:
Kay Bojesen (1886–1958) was a Danish silversmith and designer who played a central role in the development of Danish functionalism. He trained as a silversmith under Georg Jensen from 1906 to 1910 and later established his own workshop in Copenhagen. His silverwork was characterised by simple, harmonious forms that emphasised functionality and the natural beauty of the material. In 1938, he introduced his celebrated silver cutlery, later named Grand Prix after receiving the prestigious first prize at the Milan Triennale in 1951. Bojesen is also internationally renowned for his wooden figures, although he considered silversmithing his primary craft.
