Svend Hammershøi for Kähler, jardiniere.
Rectangular ceramic jardiniere/ herb pot with ribbed relief decoration and rare yellow uranium glaze. Designed during the art deco period with distinctive geometric styling.
Origin: Denmark.
Designer: Svend Hammershøi (1873–1948).
Material: Ceramic with uranium glaze.
Dimensions: H. 7 cm, D. 7 cm, L. 31 cm.
Period: 1930s.
Condition: Excellent condition with minor signs of wear.
Bio:
Svend Hammershøi (1873–1948) was a Danish ceramicist and designer renowned for his important work with Kähler Keramik in Næstved. Brother of painter Vilhelm Hammershøi, he created some of Kähler’s most iconic forms, often characterised by classical proportions, fluted decoration, and sophisticated glazes. His works from the first half of the twentieth century are considered among the most important contributions to Danish ceramic design.
