Kaj Franck (1911–1989) was one of Finland’s most influential designers and a pioneer of functional Nordic design. In 1958, he created the iconic Kartio series for Iittala, a perfect expression of his design philosophy: simplicity, functionality, and timeless beauty. The Kartio glasses are known for their clean lines and balanced proportions – free of unnecessary ornamentation. Still in production today, Kartio stands as a classic example of democratic design, blending everyday usability with refined aesthetics. Kaj Franck aimed to design glassware for everyone – for everyday use.
