Josef Ekberg (1877–1945) was a Swedish ceramist and designer best known for his work at the Gustavsberg Porcelain Factory. Starting as an apprentice, he rose to become one of the factory’s leading artistic figures. Ekberg is especially renowned for developing and refining the sgraffito technique, where patterns are etched into the glaze to create decorative effects. His elegant and technically refined pieces played a significant role in shaping Swedish Art Nouveau in the early 20th century. His collaboration with artist Wilhelm Kåge further cemented his place in Swedish design history.
