Biography :
Jeppe Madsen-Ohlsen (1891–1948) was a Danish painter known for his dark, symbolically rich style and depictions of life in Christiansfeld. He started as a barber and self-taught artist, later receiving training in Norway and Copenhagen. From 1928, he made a living from his art, which was marked by religious and existential themes inspired by Neue Sachlichkeit. He only gained recognition after his death, and today his works can be found at Museum Sønderjylland and the Moravian Museum in Christiansfeld.
