Bio:
Johanne Foss (b. 1939) is a Danish painter and graphic artist, educated at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen 1960–65, where she was influenced by her teacher Egill Jacobsen. From 1971–86 she was a member of Trykkerbanden and developed a quiet yet intensely vibrant colorist expression in works depicting figures and landscapes, often inspired by Mozambique and Tanzania, where she has lived for periods since 1983. In 1975 she completed a decorative commission for Aarhus University and taught at the Jutland Art Academy from 1981–88. Her works are marked by a lyrical and color-rich style, and she is represented in several museum and private collections.
