Elegant porcelain sauce boat with fixed underplate and double spout, decorated in underglaze blue with the classic “Blue Onion” pattern.

Origin: Germany.
Manufacturer: Meissen.
Pattern: “Zwiebelmuster” / “Blue Onion”.
Material: Hand-painted porcelain.
Dimensions: H. 8 cm, L. 22 cm, W. 13 cm.
Period: Early 20th century.
Condition: Excellent condition. Marked with Meissen crossed swords, cancelled with one incised line.

Bio:
The “Blue Onion” pattern is one of Meissen’s most iconic designs, created in the mid-18th century and inspired by East Asian porcelain. The motifs, originally representing pomegranates and peaches, came to be interpreted as onions — giving the pattern its distinctive name. It remains one of Meissen’s most timeless and celebrated designs.
