Hand-painted in the classic “Blue Onion” (Zwiebelmuster) blue-and-white decoration with scalloped rim and fine relief porcelain.
Origin: Germany, Meissen.
Material: Porcelain.
Dimensions: Cup H. 5 cm, D. 7 cm. Saucer D. 11 cm.
Period: Late 19th century.
Condition: Very good condition with minor signs of wear.
Cups: First quality.
Saucers: Cancelled with three incised lines.
Marked with Meissen crossed swords.
Bio:
Meissen’s renowned “Blue Onion” pattern was developed in the 1730s and has become one of Europe’s most iconic porcelain designs. Despite its name, the motif does not depict onions but stylised oriental fruits and flowers inspired by Chinese porcelain.
