Sculpturally decorated vase in the characteristic Sung glaze, featuring a figurative relief scene. The warm, flowing glaze enhances the plastic modelling and lends the piece a striking, almost metallic depth.

Origin: Denmark.
Material: Stoneware.
Dimensions: H. 23 cm, D. 14 cm.
Period: Mid 20th century.
Condition: Very good condition with minor signs of wear. First factory quality.

Bio:
Jais Nielsen (1885–1961) was a key artist at Royal Copenhagen, renowned for his expressive reliefs and mastery of the Sung glaze. Combining craftsmanship, sculptural modelling and narrative imagery, his ceramic works are today regarded as some of the most distinctive achievements in Danish modernist ceramics.
