Low, circular stoneware dish with a pronounced rounded rim and a distinctive grey and black double glaze. The subtly metallic surface and restrained, well-balanced form are characteristic of Svend Hammershøi’s work for Kähler during the interwar period, where material quality and glaze depth are key elements.

Bio:
Svend Hammershøi was a leading figure in Danish ceramic art in the first half of the 20th century and maintained a long-standing collaboration with Kähler. Today, his ceramics from the 1920s and 1930s are regarded as key works in the development of modern Danish ceramics.
