Meissen Biscuit plaque, c. 1970s.
Circular relief plaque in white biscuit porcelain with a classical profile portrait of Princess Charlotte of Prussia, surrounded by a circular inscription, mounted in a wide round wooden frame. Executed in a medallion-like, neoclassical style, with the matte biscuit surface highlighting the fine sculptural modelling.

Origin: Germany.
Material: Biscuit porcelain and wood.
Dimensions: D. 15 cm, Depth 3 cm.
Period: c. 1970s.
Condition: Excellent condition with light, age-related wear.

Bio:
Meissen, founded in 1710, is Europe’s oldest porcelain manufactory and is internationally renowned for its artistic and technical excellence. Biscuit porcelain has formed part of Meissen’s production since the 18th century and is frequently used for historical portrait and relief plaques inspired by classical medallic art. Its soft, marble-like surface lends these works a sculptural and timeless character.
