Biscuit plaque, c. 1970s.
Circular relief plaque in white biscuit porcelain with a classical profile portrait and circular inscription, mounted in a wide round wooden frame. Executed as a neoclassical, medallion-like composition, with the matte biscuit surface highlighting the fine details of the portrait.

Origin: Germany.
Material: Biscuit porcelain and wood.
Dimensions: D. 14 cm, Depth 3 cm.
Period: c. 1970s.
Condition: Excellent condition with light, age-related wear.

Bio:
Meissen, founded in 1710, is Europe’s oldest porcelain manufactory and is renowned for its technical and artistic excellence. Biscuit porcelain has been part of Meissen’s production since the 18th century and is frequently used for reliefs and portrait plaques inspired by classical and historical models. Its soft, marble-like surface lends these works a sculptural and timeless character.
