Wilhelm Kåge for Gustavsberg, large bowl.
Large, organically shaped bowl in glazed ceramic with a subtly undulating relief and fine gilt decoration. Studio hand work, “Guldsurrea”.
Origin: Sweden.
Designer: Wilhelm Kåge.
Material: Ceramic with gilt decoration.
Dimensions: H. 10 cm, D. 22 cm.
Period: Mid-20th century.
Condition: Excellent condition with minor signs of wear.
Bio:
Wilhelm Kåge (1889–1960) was one of Sweden’s most influential ceramic artists and designers, serving for many years as artistic director at Gustavsberg. He is celebrated for both his industrial designs and his innovative studio ceramics, where organic form, relief modelling, and refined surface treatment play a central role. Today, Kåge’s studio pieces are highly sought after for their artistic integrity and their importance within Swedish modernism.
