The figure was designed by Carl Martin-Hansen (1877–1941) for Royal Copenhagen and is part of the series Danish National Costumes.

The series includes a total of 47 figures and was produced in the period 1906–1925. Carl Martin-Hansen was recognized for his work with figures, busts and monuments and was part of the naturalistic tradition in Danish art around the turn of the century.
