Bio:
Czechoslovakian art ceramics of the 1930s were often characterised by a synthesis of Art Deco and folk-inspired ornamentation, combining stylised animal and plant motifs with geometric patterning in vivid colours. Enamel decoration allowed for strong contrasts and saturated hues, and large Amphora vases such as this were conceived as striking interior features in contemporary middle-class homes.
