The Blue Onion pattern was introduced by Meissen in 1739 and was inspired by East Asian porcelain, featuring stylised floral and fruit motifs rendered in underglaze blue. It became one of the manufactory’s most enduring tableware designs. Around 1900, Meissen continued producing Blue Onion services of consistently high quality, with dinner plates forming a key part of the service and reflecting the manufactory’s long-standing standards of craftsmanship and decorative clarity.
