Bertil Vallien (born 1938) is one of Sweden’s most influential glass artists and has been closely associated with Kosta Boda since the 1960s. He is renowned for his sculptural approach to glass and for incorporating colour, form and encapsulated details to create works with strong symbolic and poetic qualities. Vallien’s production from the 1970s and 1980s represents a highly innovative phase in Scandinavian art glass and is widely sought after by collectors.
