Bio:
Michael Andersen (1859–1939) founded Michael Andersen & Søn in Rønne on the island of Bornholm in 1890. The workshop evolved from producing traditional utilitarian pottery into artistic stoneware with strong references to Nordic medieval art, antiquity, and religious iconography. After the founder’s death, the company was continued by his sons and became particularly known for its relief-decorated stoneware throughout the 20th century.
