Bio:
Chinese export porcelain of the 18th century was produced during the Qing dynasty, primarily in Jingdezhen, the centre of imperial and commercial porcelain manufacture. Many objects were made specifically for the European market and are characterised by a combination of traditional Chinese motifs and forms adapted to Western taste. Octagonal plates were particularly popular during the 18th century and were often decorated with symbolic figures such as dragons, which in Chinese culture represent power, strength, and good fortune.
