Murano glass has been produced on the island of Murano near Venice since the Middle Ages and is renowned for its high level of craftsmanship. In the 20th century, glassmakers developed a range of artistic techniques, including controlled air bubbles and layered colours, giving the glass a dynamic and sculptural character.
