Royal Copenhagen was founded in 1775 under the patronage of Queen Dowager Juliane Marie and has remained one of Denmark’s most prestigious porcelain manufacturers. The Flora Danica service was introduced in 1790 as one of the world’s most ambitious porcelain projects, inspired by the botanical reference work Flora Danica. Each piece is individually hand-painted with scientifically accurate botanical illustrations and is regarded today as one of the finest achievements in Danish decorative arts and porcelain craftsmanship.
